According to a graphic released by Uni-sport.com, the new MLS kit numbers have arrived, as well the home/away unis for each MLS side for the 2008 season. The numbers may look familiar: they're similar to the number font used by Italy during the Germany '06.
Oh, and an added bonus - no more standard black or white (or gold, if your Chivas USA) numerals. Nope, they're gonna be team color-specific in 2008. As of this writing, I'm not enthused by the change, but like all things sport, I'll cast my judgment when I see them on the field. Personally, I think the standard numerals in previously in place were absolute class, and any major deviation (i.e. this one) just muffles up a good thing. I'll TRY to take the wait-and-see approach before publicly bashing this change.
Regarding the home and away kit colors for the Revolution, they will reverse recent tradition by sporting their white kits at home, with navy kits on the road in 2008. In fact, most of MLS will be opting for its darks on the road in 2008 (with the exception of Columbus, Los Angeles, and New York).
Well, if the Revs are gonna go with white at home, then let's see some blue shorts with them once- just once- this season. Even if it's for a reserve match on the practice pitch behind Gillette Stadium. I think it's a much fresher look than the all white (or even all navy) scheme that the fans are accustomed to. Hmmm...I may have to ask team equipment manager Brian Banfill about after a training session.
